This year, we ran Talent Leaders Together lunches in several main cities each quarter. The lunches were well attended, but we want to do more.
In conversations with many of you throughout 2023, we heard (amongst other things) that:
> Economic conditions are impacting the way you want to learn and engage.
> You don't all have budgets to attend paid events, but you still want to connect, share and learn from each other.
> You are looking for an easily accessible place to bring resources and research together.
We propose to bring the Talent Leader community together using an online community and continue with live lunches in main cities.
The online community for Talent Leaders will provide learning opportunities, community connection and resources.
It will be your community facilitated by Talent Table, and we want to make it beneficial for you.

Are you feeling the burn?
The term "burnout" has gained significant attention in recent years, and rightly so.
Our mates at Infinite Potential invite your organisation to participate in this year’s ‘The State of Burnout’ study. Headed up by Dr. John Chan, Ph.D., Managing Director, this year’s study will continue the journey to better understand and create actionable insights for organisations to create healthy, sustainable careers for their people.
This year’s study will expand the research to include:

Explore the relationship between psychosocial risks and hazards and burnout
โ
Examine the link (if any) of burnout with isolation/loneliness as it relates to work environments.
โ
Investigate the growing trend of burnout being experienced by younger workers
โ
Continue exploring the relationship between burnout and various work situations (e.g., home vs workplace, 4 vs 5 day work week, etc.)
The survey will take around 6-10 minutes, and the overall results from the study will be published in February 2024.

Perth… what a great couple of days we had last week talking about Inclusive Hiring! ๐คฉ
๐๐ป Did you know that half of all managers in Australia have never hired a person with a disability?
We talked about hidden workers - caregivers, veterans, immigrants and refugees, those with physical disabilities, people with mental health, developmental, neurodiversity challenges, the previously incarcerated and those from less advantaged populations.
It has been information overload but all in a great and positive way. We have all learned so much, and the learning doesn’t stop here.

In 1969, Australian women earned the right to equal pay for equal work. But something is still missing.
On average, women in Australia earn less than men.
Equal Pay Day marks the 56 days into the new financial year that Australian women must work to earn the same, on average, as men did last year.
Recent data shows Australia’s national base-salary full-time gender pay gap is now 13%, down from 13.3% in February 2023.
That means that, on average, for every $1 men earn, women earn 87 cents.
But some states are doing better than others.

๐๐ฟโ๏ธ International-born STEM women face four times higher unemployment than women born in Australia.

๐ 56% of Australian STEM-qualified females are born outside Australia. However, most of these qualified women struggle to find work.

Today on May 17, we acknowledge #IDAHOBIT as a day for our communities to go rainbow and stand up again discrimination.
Why? IDAHOBIT marks the day in 1990 when the @who removed homosexuality from the Classification of Diseases – only 33 years ago.
But did you know, in 2023, according to research by @latrobeuni
๐ณ๏ธ๐ 2 in 3 LGBTQIA+ youth in Australia still experience abuse due to their identity.
๐ณ๏ธ๐ 68% of LGBTQIA+ employees in Australia are not out to everyone at work.
๐ณ๏ธ๐ 35% of LGBTQIA+ Australians have experienced verbal abuse in the past 12 months.
This research is alarming. So we will never give up learning. We never give up trying.
IDAHOBIT is coordinated by @minus18youth - Australia’s charity for LGBTQIA+ young people nationwide.

We started with our Talent Leadership Lunch, where we talked about AI and bias with great insights from Lauren Anderson on ChatGPT.
We then moved on to our Talent Think Tank - talking about #attraction #assessment and #retention
We learnt that someone was almost eaten by a lion (important to know ๐คฃ), and we had a robust chat with the glorious Megan Twine and Alex Pusenjak - talking about how they align with marketing to build their brand and go to market.

๐๐ป Corporate careers websites are essential to the candidate journey but often focus on one part.
Here at HQ, through our research, we aim to improve the corporate career site and the experience of candidates, making it easier for our TA community to engage candidates and recruit their people. Yup, we are here to help!
๐๐ป So, what did we do? We surveyed a heap of career websites and assessed over 130 data points! And some of the results were surprising - others, not so much. We still need to work on candidate experience and writing good job advertising.
