Career Website Research

Through researching and awarding the 'best career site' annually, Talent Table aims to improve the corporate career site and the experience of candidates making it easier for our talent community to engage candidates and recruit for their organisation.

Why does your career site matter?

Your career site is your secret weapon. Use it.
In a world where talent is still hard to find (and keep), your careers page isn’t just a box to tick—it’s one of the most powerful tools you’ve got. And it’s wildly underused.

Let’s talk facts:
📱 79% of job seekers are scrolling social media for roles
🔍 60% kick off their search with Google

No matter where they start, one thing’s certain—they’re landing on your careers site. And if that page doesn’t show them who you really are? They’re out.

An epic careers section doesn’t just list jobs—it pulls people into your story. It shows them why they should care. It makes them feel like they belong before they even apply. And when they choose you with eyes wide open, that connection sticks.

Better fit. Stronger hires. Lower churn.

We’re about to kick off our 2025 research, digging even deeper into what makes a careers site truly inclusive, like accessibility for people with disabilities and how companies are (actually) defining remote and hybrid work.

Because a career site shouldn’t just work, it should work for everyone.

What is the Career Website Research Project?

We’re teaming up to raise the bar.

Talent Table has joined forces with
Digitaal-Werven (that’s “Digital Recruiting” in Dutch) and global expert Bas van de Haterd to bring a proven, world-class research project to Australia.

Since 2009, this research has transformed career sites across the Netherlands—pushing them to the top of the global pack. Now, it’s our turn.

We’re on a mission to bring clarity, benchmarks, and bold insights to Aussie career sites—so HR and TA teams can finally see what great really looks like.

Because a solid career site doesn’t just support hiring—it powers brand, experience, and retention. It’s time Australia caught up… or better yet, took the lead.

The Research

What makes a careers site world-class? We measure it.

Our Corporate Careers Site Research dives deep—over 150 data points across the stuff that matters to candidates and TA teams alike:

  • Usability – Can people find the job they want? Is the search smooth? Are chatbots helpful or just hype?
  • Content – Are you transparent about diversity, pay, process, and who you are as an employer?
  • Job Descriptions – Do they inspire or bore? Are they built for humans or some dusty HR system?
  • Visual Design – Think clarity, energy, and brand vibes. From typography to video, it all counts.
  • Application Process – How easy is it to apply? Do candidates hear back? Do they feel respected?
  • Mobile Accessibility – Because most candidates apply from their phones. If it’s clunky, you’re losing them.

After crunching the data, we’ll nominate the top five sites, and our independent judging panel will pick the best of the best.
