Career Website Research

Why does your career site matter?

Your career site isn’t just a page. It’s your secret weapon.

Most companies treat it like a box to tick. Most candidates don’t care.

But when done right, a career site pulls people into your story, shows who you really are, and makes candidates feel like they belong before they even apply.

Better fit. Stronger hires. Lower churn.

Why This Matters

📱 79% of job seekers scroll social media for roles
🔍 60% start on Google

Wherever they start, they land on your careers site. If it doesn’t impress, they’re gone. Fast.

What’s New for 2026
  • State awards (Jul–Aug) feed into the National Awards Summit (Nov).
  • Recognition goes beyond big budgets and flashy agencies. The awards are segmented for enterprise, government, SMEs, and startups, all have a shot at an award.
  • We’re digging deeper into inclusion, accessibility, and hybrid/remote work.

Past winners like Coles and Canva proved the benchmark. This year, anyone can make the list.

We’re watching. We’re scoring. We’ll award the winners.

What is the Career Website Research Project?

Talent Table has joined forces with Digitaal-Werven (that’s “Digital Recruiting” in Dutch) and global expert Bas van de Haterd to bring a world-class research project to Australia.

Since 2009, this research has transformed career sites across the Netherlands—pushing them to the top of the global pack. Now, it’s our turn.

We’re here to give Aussie TA and HR teams clarity, benchmarks, and bold insights—so you can finally see what great really looks like.

Because a solid career site isn’t just about hiring—it powers brand, experience, and retention.

It’s time Australia caught up… or better yet, took the lead.

The Research

What makes a career site world-class? We measure it.

Our Corporate Careers Site Research dives deep—over 170 data points across what actually matters to candidates and TA teams:

  • Usability – Can people find the jobs they want? Is search smooth? Are chatbots actually helpful or just fluff?
  • Content – Are you honest about diversity, pay, process, and who you are as an employer?
  • Job Descriptions – Do they inspire or bore? Written for humans or buried in HR systems?
  • Visual Design – Typography, photos, video, layout—does it give energy and reflect your brand?
  • Application Process – Easy to apply? Respectful follow-ups? No ghosting?
  • Mobile Accessibility – Most candidates are on phones. If it’s clunky, you’re losing them.

We crunch the numbers to find the best in each category and overall.
